Faustino Hisquierdo

TORRINGTON - Services for Faustino Hisquierdo, 59, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Torrington. The Rev. Kevin Koch will officiate. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery.

A wake/recovery service will be held at St. Rose Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21.

He died July 17, 2005 at his home.

He was born Feb. 15, 1946, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Sisto and Maria (Hernandez) Hisquierdo. He came to the United States in 1962 and worked as a migrant worker in Texas and Colorado. He moved to Torrington in 1973 and married Austrebertha Hernandez in December of 1974.

He went to work for Torrington Cement Products in 1974, where he became shop foreman. He retired in 1988 due to ill health. He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play and also followed the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, 'Bertha of Torrington; three sons, Saul Garcia of Scottsbluff, Neb., Jacinto Garcia and his wife, and Faustino Hisquierdo Jr., all of Torrington; two daughters, Elizabeth Mendoza and her husband of Torrington and Gloria Hisquierdo of Scottsbluff; three sisters, Faustina Hisquierdo Angano, Inez Hisquierdo and Valintina Hisquierdo, all of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; one brother, Prinitiro Hisquierdo, also of San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
