Isn't it interesting that there were 13 letters in two days' papers (Aug. 26 and Aug. 30) -- all 13 written regarding Cynthia Lummis' one remark about Trauner's being raised in New York! Did these 13 neglect reading the front-page article, "Lummis Regrets Choice of Words," Aug. 26? She was clearly explaining her specific meaning and not the exaggerated meaning these letter writers purport.

In that same article Gary Trauner said, "that's what people talk about when they don't have anything else to say." Yet that is exactly what these 13 letter writers have done -- magnified this one remark!

Then Gary says, "Let's concentrate on the nation's pressing issues of economic crisis and energy issues." Let's do.

Gary and his friends by this time may have seen Cynthia was honored with an invitation of speaking at the National Republican Convention, which fell through with the approach of Hurricane Gustav.

And what about:

1. Her serving 14 years in the Wyoming House and Senate, concentrating on natural resource and tax issues.

2. Two years serving as state treasurer, converting Wyoming's investment portfolio into diversified portfolio to Wyoming's benefit, which has garnered her the endorsement of Wyoming legislators as well as invitations to other states for information on how this can be done. (Who wouldn't agree that we need this kind of money expertise in Washington?)

3. Named Wyoming Small Business Advocate of the Year.

4. In 2007 she served on the Subcommittee on Royalty Management to complete audition of the Department of Interior Federal Mineral royalty functions.

5. Presenting the American point of view at Wealth Management Conferences around the world.

6. Volunteering in numerous charitable efforts including: Wyoming Stock Growers Association, Wyoming Business Alliance, Center for Rocky Mountain Advisory Board, University of Wyoming Ruckelshaus Institution for Environment and Natural Resources, Cheyenne Frontier Days Board of directors, Wyoming Women's History House in Laramie, Cheyenne Vision 2020 Process, and the Leadership Wyoming Board.

Now, let's hear about Gary's experience instead of launching negatively on one tiny statement his opponent made, and disregarding experience and issues at hand as he would like his constituents to do!

PEG BRAMSON, Casper

" Lets do. What about Lummis ideas on Veterans benefits and property tax relief ? If you are going to tell a story , tell it all , not just the milk washed version for the bleeting sheep. "

" Bull,
Lets talk Veteran benefits.
She voted for Veterans benefits - after the original bill she voted against was fixed - same with a number of Legislatures at the time. It is easy to criticize someone when they have an actual record of public service like Lummis does.

Now lets answer the question posed – what is Trauners qualifications? Oh, wait, you rather focus on only the negatives of Lummis than discuss any of the real issues. I am assuming you are a CST reporter – continue attacking and do not discuss any real issues that might reveal how competent and prepared for the job she really is. Talk about negativity – that is all you can spew – try providing specific instances throughout GT’s live that make him qualified for the job, if you can. "

" Peg-- You obviously don't understand the program. Trauner and the "donkey party" feel they have immunity regarding questions about character, intent, background, platform, and all other things that GOP candidates have to answer for. There are some things which bother me about Trauner, first-since he is running for a congressional seat from Wyoming I feel he should live in Wyoming instead of Teton County. second- his Leftist Liberal background is not in keeping with the majority of Wyoming voters. third- his stance on socialized medicine is a echo from Dem headquarters. fourth- we have yet to hear from his stand on the validity of the Constitution, and particularly the 2nd amendment. Stating there one could make up their own list of questions and get his answers on record so he cannot hide. Maybe he wouldn't shine quite as bright if he was held to the same standard as the other candidates. "

" Sagebrush- Your comments make it clear you are a party-line voter. I get the sense from hearing about Gary campaign all over Wyoming that he is tired of politicians who vote in the best interests of their party and not their constituents. I even heard Gary tell some Democrats that he is not a party line politician. You are feeling your decades-long power grip on this state slipping away and you are panicking. "

" Having listened to the WPTV "debate" among the Republican candidates, a lot of Wyomingites could conclude that there is nothing in Republican policies or personalities that is representative of their interests. Supporting the minority party in Wyoming should not elicit belittling and bullying: comments about their place of birth or their education. Instead direct a bit of that sarcasm toward those who drift in and out of the state while they are creaming off the benefits of our resources, paying their income taxes in other states, and boasting that they do not have to live in this state but temporarily. "

" I have traveled this state extensively both professionally and in pursuit of pleasure. I can say without a backward look that Teton County inhabitants have a different view of Wyoming than the rest of the state. Their values are far from benevolent toward us and they are accustomed to having money enough to buy whatever they desire, including a congressional seat. Party Line voter? I was staunch democrat for thirty-five years until I realized that the ACLU controlled the "donkey party" and switched. I have never voted "party-line"and never will nor will I be duped by a "slick" who has party hacks do the dirty work for him so he can innocence. I will leave that to the dems. "

" Sagebrush- Buy a congressional seat? There is one candidate in this race that has transfered personal wealth into a campaign account. I will let you take a guess who that is... "

" I see BULL comment on nearly every story involving Cynthia Lummis on the CST questioning her vote in support of veterans benefits. I find it odd that he maintains a stance against the positive vote and why he would rather have had this bill not pass. He seems to have conceded the above points made by Peg Bramson and instead focused on his views against veteran benefits.

Is there a candidate running that shares his anti-veteran views? "
