CHEYENNE -- Local sales tax proposals went down to defeat in Fremont and Albany counties during this week's general election.
Fremont County voters on Tuesday rejected a 1 cent sales tax to fund a $37 million renovation of the Fremont County Fairgrounds.
Another $29.5 million tax proposition to fund infrastructure in various towns and a new recreation center in Riverton also failed.
Albany County residents rejected a proposal to raise the county sales tax to 7 percent. The tax would have raised about $19 million to fund infrastructure and operational costs at a new fire station in Laramie.
And in Sweetwater County, voters rejected a mill levy increase to pay for a new residence hall at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.

I voted against both proposals in my county, simply because the tax increases by the Feds cover their Marxist agenda, means that I won't have any available money to be taxed in order to finance these local ventures.
Thanks Obama voters, for helping kill these local community projects! "

Events Center? Just be patient. The Arapaho tribe will build one soon enough. They are already bringing in the acts at the Casino. Private enterprise will provide it if it is economically viable.
There is also "history" in Fremont County. Lander won't vote for anything in Riverton and Riverton won't vote for anything in Lander. But everybody will drive to Casper to their events center. "
