The Wyoming Medical Center announced Friday the chairman of its board of directors has resigned.

Steve Chadderdon resigned so he could be eligible to apply for another position within the hospital, according to Shauna VanderLinden, spokeswoman for the hospital.

Chadderdon announced his decision Wednesday night after the board's monthly meeting, VanderLinden said. He told board members he wanted to apply for the newly created position of executive director of networking for the hospital.

A few months ago, the board made it a goal to better develop the hospital's relationships outside of Casper and the new position is intended facilitate that objective.

Chadderdon has served as a board member since 2005 and became chairman in the summer of 2007. He oversaw the board during two chief executive officer searches, the opening of a competing hospital in the community and many discussions about hospital expansions.

"He was very well respected by the board and the community," VanderLinden said. "I only ever heard good things about him."

VanderLinden said no one else at the hospital was available for comment due to the holidays.

The board voted to name Diane Payne, a member for several years and vice president at Hilltop National Bank, as its new chairman Wednesday.

Currently, the board is looking for a new member for Payne's position.

VanderLinden said people who are interested should contact a board member or someone at the hospital. The board will complete a search for candidates and, based on the current needs of the board, will choose someone to replace Payne.

" Sounds like he's already got the high paying job. Keep adding to the already too top heavy WMC. Another liason? Did it ever occur to anyone, if WMC had someone that could run the hospital, perhaps it would stop hiring. As well, this is a huge conflict of interest, did Mr.Chadderonn create this job? WMC's mssion "Let's keep hiring in hopes of finding someone that can run a hospital." Having the front line staff turn off lights to save money must generate a great deal of revenue to support these high paying positions. Wake up County!!! "

" The Clinical Staff at the WMC has been under pressure to CUT COSTS!!! No more incentives for employees filling in much needed times, larger patient load for nurses, not even enough money to help Santa "clean" his suit so he can visit the children in Peds.....

So, instead of having an already largely heavy marketing department (about 15 strong) get this job done (Yes, it is their responsibility)...the board thinks it would like to allocate six figures to hire the Chairman of the Board to help out... Well, That's Special!

Ethics????? Ethics anyone???? The WMC and the WMC Board should be ashamed of themselves.

So, instead of using those extra pennies to beef-up patient care...the organization is beefing up its marketing efforts????

You've got to be kidding me! Hope no one gets sick or hurt.... There will be one nurse with 10 patients and she may be able to turn the lights on- only if it is within the allotted time period....But at least the marketing plan is in place!

WOW!!!

Hope Mr. Chadderdon is happy!

Merry Christmas! "

" Interesting the job was only posted for a few days. Sounds like it was a plant for Mr. Unemployeed chairman steve. Someone needs a job and they'll pull favors to get them an executive director job. six figure salary anyone, just join the WMC board and you can get a great job. "

Why Director wrote on Dec 24, 2008 8:50 AM:

" Why exactly did this position have to be a director level? Couldn't they have created another job that wasn't six figured salary to do this. Oh yeah...cause the Chairman needed six figures. Put a crunch/freeze on hiring people who make 30,000 a year, but add someone who makes six figures. Right...Great management skills CEO. "
