The old Suzuki of Casper building on First Street may soon be another automotive franchise, according to property owner Rod Stalkup.

"We've had a good response of people who are interested in it," he said Friday."Potentially it will be another automotive franchise, and we're about to complete a deal on it."

The property of has been available since May 15, and Stalkup hopes to finalize a deal within the next few weeks. The building itself contains 7,500 square feet, and the surrounding property includes about two acres.

Though he was unable to disclose the name of the company interested in the property, Stalkup said it is a Colorado franchise looking to expand.

"The property is very desirable for out-of-town companies," he said. "It gets a lot of drive-by traffic, and the size is perfect for automotives."

Companies that were eyeing the prime location included a Nissan dealer and several car rental agencies, though Stalkup says a different company is close to signing the paperwork.

Stalkup is the owner of Stalkup's RV Superstore on Yellowstone Highway. He and his late father Max Stalkup have been in the automotive business for more than 50 years

The property at 550 E. First St. has housed Suzuki of Casper for the last six months. Previously to that, it was home to the Honda of Casper for 30 years.
