The band behind the 1973 hit, "The Joker," isn't joking when it says it's coming to Casper. The band is on its second leg of a major North American tour that has already covered 37 cities. It will bring its musical range of acoustic solos, hard-driving Chicago blues, R&B and numerous hits to the Casper Events Center stage in November. Following in the path of classic harmony groups like Boyz II Men and the Temptations, but with an urban twist, five-member vocal band Ball in the House blends a wide range of musical influences. They cover classic R&B, pop, hip-hop and gospel music in each of their more than 200 shows a year.

The band formed in Boston as a quartet and has morphed often over the years. It became a professional, fulltime band in 1997 when founder Jon J. learned how to do vocal beatbox percussion and asked a childhood friend to join and make it a quintet.

* BARLOWGIRL CAN'T BE SILENT

Sister rock trio BarlowGirl, whose 2004 debut album produced the hit single "Never Alone," is bringing its thought-provoking lyrics and soaring melodies to Casper on its "Million Voices" fall tour. The three sisters will be joined by Jimmy Needham and Brooke Barrettsmith.

BarlowGirl's musical career has proven these young Christian women can't be silent about their faith, a press release said. They are outspoken about their belief in Christ and the value of living a moral life. That explains the title of their most recent release, "How Can We Be Silent."

"There's so much power in knowing that you are fighting for God," said Becca Barlow, the youngest sister, in the release. "I hope the world gets to see a new way that Christians are living as passionate, powerful people. They aren't just sitting back and watching the world unravel; they are doing something about it."

In order to prove the band's stance on doing something to help the world, at least $1 million of profits from the "Million Voices" tour will be given to Mercy Ministries, which provides housing, counseling and education to young women suffering from abuse, addiction and other emotional traumas.

When: 7 p.m. OCT. 8

Where: Faith Assembly of God, 4301 Casper Mountain Road

Tickets: $13 advance, $15 day of show, $25 VIP and $10 for groups of five or more
