FISH

Ice and fishing conditions reported Wednesday. Check ice thickness and use extreme caution on the ice, which is getting thin at several lakes. Conditions can change daily.

Trout fishing is good on the Gray Reef of the North Platte River, which has open water from the dam down to Lusby. The fish are hitting red rock worms, split foambacks and rusty scuds. They're starting to take egg patterns too.

-Elizabeth Ozinga, Platte River Fly Shop in Casper

Trout fishing is very good through the ice at Alcova and Pathfinder reservoirs using minnows, Power Bait and worms. Ice anglers are also picking up some walleye at the southern end of Pathfinder. The ice is holding up well on the east side of Alcova but getting thin on the west side. Pathfinder still has a good two to three feet of ice. Drivers should stay on the main roads - those venturing off-road are getting stuck.

-Yolanda Strand, Sloane's General Store in Alcova

The ice is disappearing fast from Glendo Reservoir but it's not ready for boating yet. The North Platte River is mostly open water where it enters the lake so some anglers are starting to go after catfish there.

-Bob Shelver, Curly's Leisure Sports in Douglas

Boysen Reservoir has at least 10 inches of ice. The fishing is good using minnows for ling, trout and walleye. The ling are coming to the end of their spawn so the bite should really start picking up.

-Austin Lovato, Sportsman's Warehouse in Casper

Trout fishing remains good on the Lower Shoshone River through Cody using blue-winged olives, snowshoe duns and Griffith's gnats on the surface.

-Chip Andrews, North Fork Anglers in Cody
