FISH
Ice and fishing conditions reported Tuesday. Check ice thickness and use extreme caution on the ice. Conditions can change daily.
North Platte Region
The recent warm spell has opened up more of the North Platte River at Gray Reef. It's mostly ice-free from Gray Reef Dam down to Lusby. Fly fishing for trout is fair to good using rock worms and leech patterns. You'll probably do well with streamers too.
-Bob Fischer, Ugly Bug Fly Shop
Ice fishing is good at Alcova and Pathfinder reservoirs using minnows and meal worms. The ice is good on the east side of Alcova but getting thin with some open spots on the west side. Pathfinder has more than 2 feet of ice but the road going in to the lake has been slick and difficult for some vehicles.
-Ron Strand, Sloane's General Store in Alcova
There's a little more open water at Glendo Reservoir but some ice anglers are still fishing the main body of ice on the lake and having some success. Jigs, spoons and minnows are catching lots of perch and some walleye. The river is starting to open up so a few anglers are starting to fish for catfish.
-Bob Shelver, Curly's Leisure Sports in Douglas
Southeast
Ice fishing is good at Lake Hattie in the early mornings for trout. Anglers are faring best with jigs, meal worms, Power Bait and salmon eggs. Alsop Lake is fishing very well using the same set-ups. The ice is still good at both lakes but because of some warm days recently watch out for soft spots.
-Carl Smith, West Laramie Fly Store in Laramie
Northwest
The fly fishing for trout remains good on the Lower Shoshone through Cody from late morning to mid-afternoon. Midge and BWO hatches are providing good dry-fly fishing using Griffith's gnats, para-midges and parachute Adams. After 3 p.m. the fish get really finicky but a few can be caught on streamers and nymphs.
-Tim Wade, North Fork Anglers in Cody
