North Platte Region
Trout fishing is good on the Gray Reef of the North Platte River using egg patterns, size 20-22 baetis nymphs and red rock worms. The best fishing has been from Gray Reef Dam down to Lusby where the water is running a little clearer. Water flow is up to about 2,100 cfs so access is best from a boat.

Walleye fishing is picking up at Alcova Reservoir using jigs in the canyon and at Black Beach. Trout fishing is good using night crawlers and chartreuse-glitter Power Bait. No reports on Pathfinder Reservoir.
- Yolanda Strand, Sloane's General Store in Alcova
Walleye fishing is pretty good and getting better at Glendo Reservoir using jigs and minnows. The river above the inlet is also good for anglers using cut baits for catfish, although the river is getting high.

The 13th annual Kid's Fishing Derby will be held Saturday in Casper at Harry Yesness Pond, 4100 SW Wyoming Blvd. The free event is for kids 14 and under, accompanied by their parents. Families with last names beginning with the letter A-M are asked to fish from 8 to 11 a.m., and families N-Z from noon to 3 p.m. If possible, participants should bring their own poles and lures or bait, but North Platte Walleyes Unlimited will have some fishing poles for use and Sportsman's Warehouse is supplying bait.

Around the state
Walleye fishing is good at Boysen Reservoir using jigs and minnows. On April 20, Rob Post of Riverton caught a 16-pound, 3-ounce walleye. Trout fishing remains good near the boat ramp and dam using egg sacs and Power Bait.
- Jenella Hackett, Boysen Marina
On the Laramie plains, trout fishing is good at Lake Hattie using Power Bait, night crawlers, salmon eggs, wooly buggers, midge nymphs, olive scuds and leech patterns. Trout fishing is fair to good using the same baits and flies at lakes Alsop, Moeber and Sodergreen.
- Carl Smith, West Laramie Fly Store
Spring runoff has muddied most streams around Cody for now. Several of the lakes are fishing well, however. Fly fishing for trout is good at East Newton Lake, Luce and Hogan reservoirs and the South Fork Dike Pond using midges, chironomids, scuds and dark streamers.
- Jim Bigelow, North Fork Anglers in Cody
The south end of Lake De Smet is the best place to go in the Buffalo area right now. Trout fishing is good using Power Bait or beadhead nymphs off the bottom. Healy Reservoir is starting to pick up using assorted trout lures and flies.
- Charlie Gould, Just Gone Fishin' in Buffalo
The Snake River is off-color but fishable for now using big flashy streamers for trout. The high flow of spring runoff is coming soon though. The fishing is good at Flat Creek using big prince nymphs and small red copper johns for trout.
- Zach Herbeo, Jack Dennis Sports in Jackson
In the southwest, Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a little slow for rainbow trout from shore but boat anglers targeting small lake trout in the Buckboard area are doing well.
Ice went off Fontenelle Reservoir May 1 and anglers are doing well there for rainbow and brown trout.
Lake Viva Naughton and Kemmerer City Reservoir still have some ice but are likely unsafe for ice fishing. Expect good trout fishing as soon as the ice goes off.
