A Casper man died Sunday when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle crashed along Highway 487, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Brian E. Felstet, 49, died at the scene of the crash, 26 miles north of Medicine Bow in Carbon County. He had been traveling north when he failed to negotiate a right turn in the road at about 8:20 p.m., the highway patrol said.

The bike crossed the center line, traveled over the southbound lane and off the road. Felstet and his passenger, 37-year-old Kerensa K. Smith, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Smith was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins for treatment. Both she and Felstet were wearing helmets.

A woman who answered the phone at Memorial Hospital said the hospital does not release updates on patients.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Felstet was the 47th traffic death in Wyoming this year.
