The Council for Resource Development selected Paul Hallock, executive director of the Casper College Foundation, as the 2008 Campus Impact Award recipient for 2008, according to a news release from the college.
"This is quite an honor," said Hallock. "It reflects on the strength of our boards, the institution, and the belief of the community and their support of our college."
Hallock will receive his award during the CRD's annual conference in November in Washington.
"Clearly this award is well deserved and a great recognition of Paul's standing in our community," said Walter Nolte, Casper College president.
The award recognizes the efforts of individuals or teams who have made a significant impact on a community college and/or the students it serves.
In their nomination letter, Katie McMillan, Casper College grants coordinator, and Dana Boe, Casper College grants specialist, wrote, "Paul has provided significant support for the college through his tireless efforts and exemplary resource development efforts."
Recent successes include two efforts related to the Wyoming Community College Endowment Challenge Program created by the Legislature. The program challenged the seven community colleges in the state to raise $4.5 million each in permanent endowment gifts, with matching funds from the state.
The success of the first challenge was met with an additional $2 million match challenge from the state.
"Because of Paul's vast knowledge of fundraising, long engagement with Casper College and the deep trust and respect within the community, the foundation was able to raise the additional $2 million by mid-2008," McMillan and Boe wrote.
The two fundraising efforts have resulted in the development of a $13 million endowment for Casper College.
The CRD provides education and networking for all community college development professionals. An affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges, CRD serves more than 1,600 members at more than 700 institutions.
