Democrats host Jefferson-Jackson Banquet

Nearly 200 Democrats from across the state will gather tonight at the Hilton Garden Inn in Casper for the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Banquet and Awards Ceremony, according to a release.

The Jefferson Jackson Dinner is the Democratic Party's largest annual fundraising event and is named for two of the nation's and the Democratic Party's most influential leaders - Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson.

Featured guests include Gov. Dave Freudenthal, U.S. House candidate Gary Trauner, and U.S. Senate candidates Nick Carter and Chris Rothfuss.

State party chairman Dr. John Millin will also honor Leslie Petersen with the "Party Builder of the Year Award" for outstanding service to the Party through fundraising for candidates from Presidential to State legislative candidates.

Man faces forgery charge

Police on Thursday arrested a Casper man suspected of forging a prescription.

Bryan Wayne Hillegrass, 30, faces forgery charges for allegedly altering the quantity on a prescription for the controlled substance methadone.

According to police, a physician at the Community Health Center of Wyoming said he wrote Hillegrass a prescription for 35 methadone pills. When Hillegrass tried to fill his prescription at Walgreens on CY Avenue, it was for 135 pills.

The pharmacist thought the quantity seemed high and called the police, according to the affidavit.

Hillegrass told police he didn't know how the number 1 appeared on the prescription, the affidavit said.

Man allegedly locks woman in closet

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office on Thursday arrested a man suspected of locking a woman in a closet.

Neilson J. Tsosie, 19, faces false imprisonment charges for allegedly locking a cleaner in a closet at the Teapot Motor Lodge in Edgerton for 10 minutes against her will, said Sgt. Mark Sellers.

The woman suffered no injuries, according to Sellers. The man was a renter at the facility.

KW hosts wellness ride

As part of a wellness program, about 65 Kelly Walsh High School staff members will ride bicycles by moonlight tonight at 9, according to a release from the school district.

The group will meet at 8:30 p.m. in the Mossholder's Furniture parking lot.

The ride will cover about 3.5 miles, according to assistant principal Sandy Cherry.
