The eighth annual Hunter Fittje Memorial Fishing Derby will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Yesness Pond for kids in memory of an amazing little boy who loved to fish.
The derby contests are open to kids up to 9 years old, but children of all ages are welcome to participate. The entry fee is $5 per child, and each registered participant receives a fishing derby T-shirt and goody bag.
All proceeds from the derby are given to the Hunter Fittje Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides two $500 scholarships to graduates from any of Natrona County School District's high schools. Door prizes will be given away throughout the derby. Raffle tickets will also be sold for many great prizes. For more information, call Tyrone or Linda Fittje at 267-5735.
A poker run on the water, sponsored by the Casper Boat Club at Alcova and beginning at 10 a.m, will help raise money for Jason's Friends. A buffet dinner, entertainment and a special prize package are all part of the fun. For more details, visit casperboatclub.com.
The Windy City Striders Trail Series begins today at Rotary Park with a 3.5-mile run along the Bridle Trail. The Aug. 16 race begins and ends at the Nordic Lodge at Skunk Hollow and follows an approximately five-mile route along the Nordic trails. The last race in the series takes place on Sept. 20. The approximately six-mile course begins in the Hogadon parking lot.
Registration is $15 per race for Striders members and $20 per race for nonmembers. Entry fees cover the costs of prizes, aid stations, and finish line goodies. All participants receive a gift card from Bush-Wells Sporting Goods. Those completing all three races receive an etched pint glass. The male and female winners of the series each receive a commemorative T-shirt.

The Epsilon Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will have an Ice Cream Social, hosted by Mildred Lawson, in the yard of her home beginning at 3 p.m. All members and spouses or significant others are cordailly invited to attend this special summer gathering. Reach 4A Star Riding Academy will host its third annual Chutes 'n' Giggles Rodeo. The rodeo starts at 10 a.m. All events for the rodeo will be held at 4250 N. 6 Mile Road. All proceeds from the event will help Reach 4A Star Riding Academy and its programs. For more information, call 473-7827.
The Casper Senior Center, 1831 E. Fourth St., invites you to dance tonight from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. to music provided by "Swing Sounds." Show off your swing, two-step, waltz and jitterbug dance moves to western and pop swing, a touch of 1950s rock 'n roll, as well as your traditional country favorites. Admission is $4 per person.
"Quilting Along the Trails" is today and Sunday at Casper College in the Roberts Commons and the Administration buildings. There will be a multi-state vendor's mall, a wonderful quilt and trunk show in the Aley Fine Arts building that you can still buy tickets at the door for.
