An attorney for a Natrona County man charged with murder recently filed two subpoenas for information from Casper's local television stations.

The subpoenas ask for anything aired concerning Donald Lee Rolle, a man accused of murdering a Casper woman he once dated.

Rolle, 47, was arrested in November after police found the body of Jennifer Randel, a mother of two, in his truck outside of Casper. If convicted, Rolle could face the death penalty.

Bill Sullivan, the general manager of KCWY 13, said he will obey the subpoena, which requires the requested information by March 30.

Three messages left with two KTWO-TV supervisors were not returned.

KCWY receives one or two subpoenas each year from both criminal cases and people involved in accidents covered by the station, according to Sullivan. The station charges an hourly rate to sort through the 20 hours a week of news.

Rolle's attorney, public defender Vaughn Neubauer, did not say why he filed the subpoenas, saying he does not comment on pending cases.

Casper attorney Dallas Laird, said he can't comment on this particular case, but he would subpoena this type of information to try and make a case for changing the trial venue.

If a jury pool is tainted, which means each possible jury member already has an opinion on the case, a judge has the ability to send the case to another county to be tried.

By collecting news broadcasts, an attorney may be able to show the public has had too much exposure to the case before the trial, especially if the trial date is very soon after the crime.

This is no easy task, Laird said. In his 30 years as an attorney, he has only had a couple cases in which the judge changed the location for a criminal case.

In addition to any aired recordings related to the Donald Rolle case, the subpoenas are also for any video of the group Don't Touch Us Inc., and any video from Nov. 4 until now that shows Natrona County District Attorney Michael Blonigen, any member of the district attorney's office or any member of Natrona County law enforcement talking about domestic violence.

Rolle's trial date is set for July 7.
