Natrona County commissioners abandoned the idea of a contest to name the new courthouse.

The commission originally named it the Natrona County Courthouse-Townsend Justice Center, to differentiate it from the existing Natrona County Courthouse. Good idea.

But the members ultimately decided to take "courthouse" out of the new name, to further reduce confusion.

So the old Natrona County Courthouse, which has offices but no courtrooms, is keeping its name, while the new Natrona County-Townsend Justice Center won't be called a courthouse even though it's the only one with courtrooms.

That should be easy to remember.
