I'm writing to express support for the Grand Teton National Park's new pathway, the first section of which is nearly completed. As a member of the NPCA Northern Rockies Advisory Council, I am heartened that the Park has undertaken this project which will have a substantial effect on combating global climate change and its deleterious impacts on parks and wildlife.
The time to reduce emissions in parks is now. This new pathways system is a step in the right direction and will encourage people to get out of their cars and experience the park in a new way.
I applaud Park Superintendent Mary Gibson Scott for her careful oversight of the project, and her efforts to minimize impacts on wildlife during the construction.
Additionally, I am appreciative of Sen. John Barrasso in his efforts to provide funding for a visionary system that will encourage people to experience their national parks in a healthy and safe way, while also reducing the impacts on Grand Teton National Park's Class One Air shed.
No doubt, this pathway will serve as a model for the entire parks system.
