I have been here in Tegucigalpa, Honduras (located in Central America) the past five days and have viewed the current actions of the military dictatorship, which seized power from the democratically elected president (Manuel Zelaya) on the morning of June 28.

President Zelaya remains in the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa (the capital of Honduras). He re-entered his country on Sept. 19 and fled to the safety of the Brazilian embassy 36 days ago.

President Zelaya continues to appeal for calm and has asked the de facto president who was placed into power illegally by these golpistas (coup plotters), to resign and for the military to return to the barracks.

The current military dictatorship is being denounced all over the world. The brutality that has taken place here (so far 32 confirmed deaths and hundreds wounded); also many others have disappeared and possibly have been killed by the death squads that are made up of para-military gangsters who are supported by the military dictatorship here in Honduras.

I ask that President Barack Obama continue to focus his attention on what has and is currently going on here and continue to keep on against these murderers and gangsters who seized democracy and freedom from the people of Honduras.

Americans thinking of taking a vacation to Honduras should refrain from coming here until the situation returns to a stable, free and democratic nation, which includes returning President Manuel Zelaya back into his rightful office.
