Editor:
When candidates cannot address the issues or they wish to hide their own shortcomings, they often resort to trying to distract the voters. Such is the case of Cynthia Lummis following her win in the primary election. She would have you believe that a candidate who was not born in Wyoming is not capable of or worthy of representing our state.
Attacks of this nature are the desperate attempt of a person who does not wish to discuss the issues or has no vision for the future. Her logic is flawed to say the least. Many of our elected officials have not been native to Wyoming.
In her own party, Sen. Barrasso, was born and raised in the East. Is he better able to represent Wyoming because he has been here 25 years and Trauner has been here 18 years? I don't think so. If so what is the magic cut-off date that qualifies a person to represent us?
Is it not more important to elect a representative who has knowledge of the issues rather than one who would ask us to blindly follow her only because of a birthplace?
Gary Trauner has demonstrated his knowledge of the issues and his concern for the future of not only Wyoming but for the country as a whole. He is truly qualified to represent us and I for one will be voting for Gary on Nov. 4th.
