"Pave Paradise … ." For hundreds of years, the Casper Mountain deer and antelope herds have migrated each night from the base of the mountain to the field on the corner of Poplar and Casper Mountain Road.
Soon that will no longer be possible, as dirt movers, tractors, and trucks will be leveling the ground in preparation for the streets and office buildings that will imminently be occupying the space that formerly belonged to the wildlife and to the dog walkers and to the nature lovers who daily enjoyed the peace and beauty of that field.
What a shame that in the name of "progress" more and more of the essence of what makes Wyoming unique is being "paved over."
Thank God for people like the Baileys, who have dedicated so much land for wildlife preserve - would that there were more people who feel the way they do, and for whom the almighty dollar is not the bottom line.
P.S. Notice the ever-thickening smoggy haze that hovers over the horizon - another bonus from the relentless development taking place in Casper.
