In the July 2 Star-Tribune, the editorial board illustrated a scheme for breaking up Wyoming ranches and subdividing old spreads. (It's actually Great Britain's way to screw up the American way and it won't work.)

The "opinion" page welcomes reader's views. Well, I have one. A fair, feasible and sound one. Abolish property taxes entirely. Given a break, maybe outfits won't have to sell out.

It is the most unfair tax there is. I know this is contrary to the current administration's agenda of tax, tax, tax, spend, spend, spend, elect, elect, elect the old "Harry Hopkins" and John Maynard Keynes economic stuff along with radical left wing, power mad extremists like Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, George Soros, David Rockefeller and most recently all joined by the newly rich Oprah Winfrey and Ted Turner. Socialism/Marxism works well for a few tyrants on top to control the masses.

Nope, they don't like to hear it, the elitists. They can't handle the truth. They want slaves and the truth is in a free society there should be no impingements, none upon the right to own property, especially real estate. Completely own it, no strings attached.

Why invest in something, whether it is a cattle ranch, a one-acre farm, a cabin, a car, a truck, anything, pay it off, only to find out who really owns it, feds or the state and local government, and if you don't pay rent, you have little or no control over who sets the rent (taxes).

We are losing our freedoms. We know that totalitarianism is right around the corner with a Marxist, minority, socialism-favoring president.

All it comes down to is the proper role of government should be police and fire protection on the state and local level. Nothing more but a national defense, the best, at the federal level, a most versatile, modern, well-equipped military possible and for the U.S., not the U.N.

Not money for politicians, toll roads, not the government competing for money, raising revenue at the dire expense of property owners, income earners and wealth producers.

No property tax. Instead prosperity from our own hands. Let's get rid of it and finance our small, efficient government with foreign excise and sales tax.

We need not only a cowboy tea party, but 535 cowboys and cowgirls in Congress.

If an "official" wants to make a sacrifice, run. It's a sign of approaching looters.
