Editor:
With due respect to the Casper Star-Tribune Editorial Board, members who sit in relative safety behind their computer screens, the editorial, "You don't need a gun in a national park"(Dec. 20) contains two fatal flaws among its assumptions. Namely, that we live in a perfect society, and that violent criminally minded people obey the law.
Oh, that were those assumptions were true! However, such is not the case and no amount of false Utopian propaganda will change the fact. We are forced to acknowledge the reality that there are people in our society who live outside of the law and ignore the law to suit their purposes. We call them outlaws.
Laws that prohibit guns in national parks, state forests, and city parks are not only bad pieces of legislation, they are outright dangerous. They strip the good citizen of his ability to defend himself against an armed attack by two-legged predators who ignore the law.
These so-called "gun control" laws have never worked and they need to be repealed. It's a dangerous world out there. Pretending otherwise is dishonest, at best.
