It is a good time to be a Casperite. Growth and changes over the last thirty years have been remarkable. Casper is truly a regional center for commercial, educational, recreational, tourism and social activities. Remember the landscape before the 1970s and look at it now.

We host professional baseball and football games, statewide school activities, the best concerts, the most exciting rodeo, an interpretive trail center, a regional medical center and a world class golf course just to mention a few things.

The changes happened as a result of far-sighted individuals donating thousands of hours to boards and committees. A huge thanks is due the community leaders, the McMurrys and so many others who have given back to the community.

The bottom line is Casper would not have all the employment opportunities and growth if we listened to the nay sayers. Negativity is paralyzing.

We now have a new opportunity. The library is the hottest ticket in town. A majority of every man, woman and child in Natrona County have a library card. More than a thousand patrons visit every day. The library is bursting at the seams.

Other communities have found the benefit of financing projects with the specific purpose excise tax. Financing for 27 months versus bonding for 30 years is a no brainer. When you vote, do so from an educated position. Read Wyoming Statute 39-15-203(a)(iii). Voters authorize a specific dollar amount and when that amount is raised, the levee is automatically terminated.

Kudos to the library board for inviting public comment. Everything is seen better in the light of day and this is one project that withstands the closest scrutiny.

BILL and KAREN HARDEN, Casper
