Jim Chocas' letter of June 20 thanks President Reagan for getting rid of an energy development program. I would like to thank every president before and after Reagan for putting the American people in this position - to blame Reagan alone would be a little thin.

Mr. Clinton axed American energy independence, too, and no president in the last seven decades has come up with anything positive, neither has Congress.

Which brings an interesting question to light. When are the American people going to take responsibility for keeping all of these idiots in office? We voted them in - let's vote them out.

As long as we keep these same politicians in the pool, we get what we asked for. How about we demand something else and take some responsibility for where the country has gone.
