Those who do not believe in God because His prescience is not made known in the form of miracles need only look to the cities of New Orleans and St. Paul and be converted!

Gaze upon New Orleans and witness: Lightning strikes in the same place twice. Look toward St. Paul and see: The leopard has changed his spots! What's going on in New Orleans is obvious. The city is prepared. Evacuation is provided for everyone regardless of income level or party affiliation before disaster strikes.

Cooperation between FEMA, the effected states and each other abounds. There have been drills and an actual disaster response plan awaits in the wings to be deployed. The hurricane (lightning) strikes in exactly the same place it did three years ago. And, every Republican, with and ounce of elephant in him, will by God get it right this time, no matter what!

What's going on in St. Paul is a little less obvious. The formation of the Affected States Working Group, the establishment of an Affected States Information Center, and the chartering of a DC-9 to transport affected delegates.

"We are deeply concerned about the safety and welfare of the residents of the Gulf States region. Our top priority is to assist those who will be affected by Hurricane Gustav. This is not a time for politics or celebration; it is a time for us to come together as Americans and assist the residents of the Gulf States." Says Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain 2008.

Is this the party that champions the rights of those that cannot vote above the rights of those who do? Is this the party that defends Afghan, Iraqi and the corporate citizen with the zeal usually reserved for one's own first born?

Can it be that the Republican Party has donned the cloak of compassion towards actual American human-beings? Miracles and wonders - there is simply no other explanation for it.

When Barack Obama came to town with his message of change, the last place I expected it to see it first occur was in the Republican party. I know he's good but, this is incredible. Now, I can't wait to see just how long it lasts.
