Editor:
That time of year again:
July Fourth is coming around again for another year and I hope that the Lander Police Department will issue warnings or tickets to people who set off fireworks during the Fourth of July within the city limits.
It's already a noisy world and people who live in Lander will have double the noise on the Fourth of July and that's why I don't care for the firecrackers or noisy blasters which are a way that some people agitate others during the daytime hours on this one day of the year.
I do however like to watch fireworks at night like the show that is put on by Doctor Bills because it is set to music and tells the true story of why we live in the country called the United States of America.
I have lived in Lander and know, in the past at least, it is legal to set off fireworks within the city limits between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight on the Fourth of July only.
Fireworks are not allowed to be set off along or within one block of the parade route because the noise could frighten horses or other animals that are in the parade. I did see some kids last year try to set off fireworks on Main Street before the parade and was glad that a Lander police officer was there to tell them no.
A little goes a long way for me on the Fourth of July with all the noise I count the hours and minutes when I look forward to working in Riverton for 10 hours for some peace and quiet since that city doesn't allow fireworks in their city limits on Independence Day.
Thanks for reading my letter and hope you find peace and quiet or noise on July Fourth depending on where you live in the state of Wyoming.
