Doris Soule tries to divert attention from the very real Christian atrocities throughout history. The various inquisitions, crusades, and holy wars were violent and cruel as any so-called godless cultures.
The quote, "America's revolution began with daily prayer at the Continental Congress," points to the Christian practice of invoking their god to grant victory in battle, sounds as militant as any of the so-called godless cultures.
Speaking of which, the Native Americans were viewed as godless savages by early settlers and the military alike. Native American spirituality was and is very balanced and harmonious with the earth. Anyone familiar with Native American spirituality knows better, but they were viewed as godless to justify their conquer.
The Gideons placing Bibles in motels, schools or else where, is nothing less than covert proselytizing. I have seen positive change in people who are non-Christian - Christians think the Bible is the only tool of positive change.
In actuality more bloodshed, wars and other violence has been done in the name of the Bible than anyone dares to admit. Christianity thinks it has the express right to display their religious beliefs, symbols, Bibles and so on, but all other but all other non-Christian practitioners are null and void.
This just gives example to the self righteous, fascist-like nature of main stream organized religion, with members who want to dominate and be control freaks. When it comes to a belief system that conflicts with Christianity, it is targeted for persecution and propaganda.
Christian culture right up to the present is steeped in war and conflict, the Middle East is a living testament to that. To imply that religious/Christian cultures are free of war, atrocities and persecution is misleading and untrue.
