I would like to thank Mrs. Doris Johnson and those responsible for the great Fourth of July parade and cookout which Manville, Wyo., had last Saturday.

Imagine, such a small town (population about 90), having one nice, old-time, country-style Fourth of July celebration! The kind of event I remember (when I was a kid), we used to enjoy long ago, complete with music and a big cookout, topped off with a tremendous fireworks show!

Unfortunately I had to leave early and missed out on those two bands that came to play patriotic songs and much later the big fireworks show that the good people of Manville put on.

I was very much surprised to see the huge crowd (estimated at over 1,200) that came to have a good time and to celebrate the Fourth of July. I met people from all over Wyoming as well as several from out of state who attended this great event.

Doris Johnson of Manville decided last year to organize an annual Fourth of July celebration and I would hope that she and the residents of that community will continue to have one each July 4.

For all of you who missed out on the fun, great food and festive atmosphere, you might want to plan to attend next year's Fourth of July celebration in little 'ole Manville, Wyo. What a party!
