Freedoms die by small measures

Dear citizens, I read with anxiety concerning Rock Springs Police Chief Mike Lowell and City Attorney Vince Crow proposed ordinance to restrict young people on the streets during certain hours of the day, with young people at potential risk of being questioned, detained, or held in custody until he or she might be proven innocence.

Every citizen should be as concerned and take notice of this proceeding.

As elected officials we should be extremely grieved at any infraction (of such a few) so grave as to justify the taking away freedoms of our families and fellow citizens. I pray that the Rock Springs Council Members exercise great wisdom, and above all, restraint.

As we inch away liberty, even one community at a time, there is an indelible precedent established, the taking, the etching away of something so sacred that such young people still die to protect - grave are the effects of a single vote that can never be fully erased.

May God bless us with the wisdom to protect our Wyoming way of life.

Rep. BOB BRECHTEL, Casper

Wyoming House District 38
