My name is Kathleen Holmes and had attended the Wyoming School for the Deaf in Casper for 11 years (1957 to 1968). Also, my deaf younger brother attended there for several years.
I received the news that Natrona County has a deed from state of Wyoming. They want Pineview School torn down and decided that the Wyoming School for the Deaf should be torn down, too. Why?
The deaf school building isn't old. But Pineview School is very, very old, hence the safety issues. So they should keep deaf school building instead of having it torn down.
They really upset all of us alumni who attended the deaf school with many memories. It is the only, one, deaf school building (historical) in Wyoming!
Since the Wyoming School for the Deaf's building is still in excellent condition, unlike Pineview's school, it's therefore not sensible to waste state funds by tearing down a building with an excellent basketball court and kitchen!
Pineview School or the school district just wants new building at the expense of taxpayers!
I say save the building and funds! Go ahead and tear down Pineview School because of safety concerns and build new one match to Wyoming School for the Deaf's brick building!
