BUFFALO - A runaway motor home traveling downhill on U.S. Highway 16 crashed into a downtown strip mall here Thursday night, according to witnesses.

Sue Myers said witnesses estimated the vehicle was going 65 mph at the time of the accident, rolling down Fourth Street before ramming into the building on Main Street at approximately 5 p.m.

There was no immediate word on possible injuries.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol was investigating the incident, according to an official, who said no information could be provided at the time.

The Buffalo Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff Department referred all questions to the patrol.

The strip mall sits across from the Johnson County Courthouse and the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce. Calls to both buildings went unanswered.

The Sol de Vallarta restaurant is seven buildings down from the scene of the accident. Maria Apriluh, the restaurant's hostess, said she was opening for business around 5 p.m. when she noticed police cars.

"I didn't hear anything," she said. "I noticed something when I saw the police cars."
