Plane slides off Jackson runway
JACKSON - A United Airlines jet from Denver slid off the runway when it landed at the Jackson Hole airport Monday night.
Passengers used emergency slides to get off the plane.
There were no major injuries, although one passenger sprained a wrist while exiting the jet, according to Craig Logan, the airport's director of operations.
The plane was carrying 115 passengers and a crew of six. It landed at 9:16 p.m. and slid off the 6,300-foot runway north of town.
The National Transportation Safety Board plans investigate the incident.
Officials suspend search for body
MISSOULA, Mont. - Divers have temporarily suspended their search of the Clark Fork River for a Wyoming man investigators say was stabbed to death and dumped off a bridge near Alberton.
Eight divers from Missoula County Search and Rescue and the Flathead County Sheriff's Dive Rescue Team searched the Clark Fork River about 30 miles west of Missoula over the weekend for the body of Michael J. Meadows.
Both search teams will expand their search downstream by next weekend, as more resources become available.
Meadows, 31, of Jackson was stabbed to death early last Thursday. Cyril K. Richard, 22, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
Police said Richard told them he stabbed Meadows in self-defense, wrapped his body in a blanket, dragged it down the stairs to his car and dumped it off a 110-foot bridge into the Clark Fork River.
Meadows had been living in Richard's Missoula apartment for two to three weeks while he looked for a job. Richard told police the men had been drinking heavily on the evening of Feb. 20 and that they had argued about Meadows' inability to find a job and help pay living expenses.
Colleges share president candidates
POWELL - Three finalists for president of Northwest College in Powell include two finalists for the same job at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.
Trustees at Western have chosen a president. But whether that decision might narrow the finalist pool at Northwest remains to be seen.
Western won't name its choice unless that person accepts the job, according to Kandy Frink, executive assistant to the college board. Trustees considered three finalists.
Joe McCann, president of Williston State College in Williston, N.D., and Paul Prestwich, vice president of academic affairs at Sussex County Community College in Newton, N.J., were finalists for both jobs.
The other two finalists for the job in Powell were Alex Capdeville, who recently retired as chancellor at Montana State University-Northern in Havre, Mont., and Robert Musgrove, president of Pine Technical College in Pine City, Minn. Northwest officials announced Tuesday that Musgrove had dropped out of contention.
Miles LaRowe plans to retire as president of Northwest College in June. Tex Boggs plans to retire as president of Western Wyoming Community College around the same time.
