WORLAND - The funeral for Newton Albert White, 89, will be 2 p.m. Saturday April 5, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Worland.
The casket will be open at the church from noon until service time on Saturday. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
He died April 1, 2008, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Mont.
He was born on August 28, 1918, in Gebo, a son of Newton and Maria "Mary" U. (Bosch) White. He attended schools in Worland and graduated from Washakie County High School in 1936.
He worked on the family farm as a young man, and then farmed and ranched all of his life.
He married Irene Bailey at the Chapel of the Transfiguration in Moose, on May 24, 1941. They had three daughters, Mary Elise, Jean, and Christine. His first wife died in 1960.
He was married to Bonnie S. Nelson on July 11, 1998, at the family farm northwest of Worland.
He worked as the superintendent of the Big Horn Canal from 1963 to 1985, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the canal company for many years.
He was a 50 plus year member and a Past Master of the Cloud Peak Masonic Lodge in Worland.
He also was a 50 plus year member and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Worland, and a Past Worthy Grand Patron of the Wyoming O.E.S.
He was a Knights Templar, a Shriner, and a past guardian of the Worland Job's Daughters and a life long member of the Worland United Methodist Church.
He also served on the local ASC Board for a number of years, and the Worland Pure Seed Growers Board. He represented our area at the state level on several irrigation committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene, and his half brothers, Edgar White and Merl White.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Worland, his daughters Elise Sande and her husband of Powell, Jean Howe and her husband of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Christine Edington and her husband of Orange Park, Fla., stepchildren, Royce Nelson and his wife of Pensacola, Fla., John Nelson and his wife of Davie, Fla., Cliff Nelson of Worland, Lory Gorm and her husband of Farmington, N.M., and Martha Singh of Eureka, Ore., seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the fund of the donor's choice.
