Thomas E. Trowbridge, 78, left this life to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ on July 7, 2009. Tom died peacefully at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center from Alzheimer's disease related complications.

Tom was born December 18, 1930 in Superior, Nebraska, the son of Elton and Irene Kohr Trowbridge, both teachers and farmers in Nuchols County, NE.

In 1935 his family purchased a dairy farm in Carbon County, Wyoming, on Cow Creek, 10 miles south of Saratoga. Tom spent most of the next 39 years working on the farm/ranch he loved on Cow Creek.

At Saratoga High School he participated in 4-H, basketball and was the editor of the annual. Tom graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture in 1952, where he was a member of ROTC, student senate and Kappa Sigma. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.

Tom loved Wyoming and its wonderful, colorful citizens. He tried to help whenever possible and gave his time to many organizations and projects including

Carbon County Power and Light (REA), Saratoga

School Board, Encampment Presbyterian Church, Rancher's Camp Meeting and Roundup Riders of the Rockies.

In 1974 Tom moved to a ranch on Beaver Creek, 10 miles southeast of Encampment. He enjoyed living

and working there for many years.

Tom was very appreciative of his opportunity to serve Carbon County for two terms in the Wyoming House of Representatives and one term in the Wyoming

Senate (1978-1986) where he worked to fairly represent Wyoming small town and rural citizens.

In 1987 Tom was appointed to the Wyoming State Board of Equalization. In 1990 he became the director of the Wyoming Rural Electric Association (REA) and moved to Casper. In 1993 he was appointed

as U.S. Department of Agriculture, Wyoming director. Tom retired in 1996 and since has resided in Encampment, Sun City, AZ and Cheyenne.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his children, Marilee and Ralph Harper of Saratoga, Truit and Christie Trowbridge

of San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Lisa Harper

of Saratoga; sister, Marietta Dinneen of Cheyenne; nephews, Jim and John Dinneen of Cheyenne; former spouse, Shellie Astleford Powley of Sun City, AZ; former spouse, Joan Finch of Casper, WY.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2009 at Platte Valley Christian Center, 111 N. Seventy St., Saratoga with Pastor Gene Smith officiating

Pallbearers will be John Evans, Dan Trowbridge, Les Barkhurst, Ray Barkhurst, Dirk Trowbridge, Jim Dinneen and John Dinneen.
