WYOMING COWBOYS
RECORD: 4-4 overall, 2-2 Mountain West Conference.
HEAD COACH: Dave Christensen (4-4 at Wyoming, first season; 4-4 overall, first season).
OFFENSE/DEFENSE: Spread/3-4.
LAST TIME OUT: Wyoming hung tough with nationally ranked Utah, but couldn't pull off the upset down the stretch.
The Cowboys defense held the Utes to just three field goals in the first three quarters and to 363 total offensive yards, but couldn't keep Utah out of the end zone in the fourth quarter, falling 22-10.
UW totaled just 202 offensive yards and gained less than 100 in the second half. After failing to score a touchdown at Air Force two weeks earlier, its only touchdown in Salt Lake City came on a trick play.
Still, the Pokes had a chance to regain the lead in the fourth quarter before their best drive of the second half ended with an interception.
NEXT: The Cowboys head back on the road for their second-to-last conference road game, taking on San Diego State at 8 p.m., a game that will be televised the mtn.
The Pokes lead the overall series with the Aztecs 16-14. But they have won just three of 10 times in MWC play and are just 5-10 when playing in San Diego.
San Diego State is 4-4 entering today, where it is scheduled to host undefeated TCU.

BYU COUGARS
RECORD: 6-2 overall, 3-1 Mountain West Conference.
HEAD COACH: Bronco Mendenhall (44-15 at BYU, fifth season; 44-15 overall, fifth season).
OFFENSE/DEFENSE: Pro Set/3-4.
LAST TIME OUT: BYU had last weekend off, giving it time to recover from its second stunning loss of the season.
It wasn't a huge surprise that TCU was able to go to Provo two weeks ago and win, but the 38-7 score that was the real shock.
Harvey Unga carried the ball 21 times for 122 yards and the Cougars' lone touchdown on a reception, but that was one of few bright spots for BYU, which suffered a double-digit home loss for the second time this season.
The Cougars allowed more than 400 yards of total offense, allowed five sacks and were shut out in the second half.
NEXT: BYU remains on the road in league play for the second week in a row, traveling to New Mexico next week for a noon game that will be televised by the mtn.
The Cougars hold a dominant advantage over the Lobos. In a series that dates back to 1951, BYU is 43-14-1 all-time.
New Mexico, still looking for its first victory under first-year head coach Mike Locksley, is scheduled to play at Utah today.
