After missing the postseason for the first time in four years, the Wyoming women's basketball team will try to start a new streak beginning today when it hosts Adams State in an exhibition game.

The Cowgirls are coming off a 16-14 season and a first-round loss in the Mountain West Conference.

However, UW returns four starters and welcomes back junior wing Aubrey Vandiver.

Vandiver, the MWC Sixth Player of the Year winner two years ago when she averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, sat out out last season with mononucleosis.

Vandiver will team with junior center Hillary Carlson, a second-team all-conference selection last year; junior guard Randi Richardson; and sophomore guards Kristen Scheffler and Emma Langford.

They are part of a youthful Cowgirl squad that doesn't have a senior on the roster.

"We are young, but we're talented," UW coach Joe Legerski said. "We're a little banged-up right now, but I like the way this group is coming together."

Scheffler and Langford have been bothered by sore backs, but both are expected to play tonight.
