The Wyoming athletic department announced the men's and women's 2008-09 basketball schedules on Monday.
Both teams play 16 home games and have a competitive nonconference schedule.
The Cowboys' schedule is highlighted by a Dec. 23, game at UCLA, one of college basketball most successful programs. Wyoming opens the season with an exhibition against Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 8, and start the regular season against Cal-State Bakersfield on Nov. 14. The Cowboys' first six games are at home and they don't go on the road until Dec. 3, at Boise State. Mountain West Conference play starts on Jan. 3, at Utah.
The Cowgirls' schedule includes seven teams that competed in the postseason last year, including nonconference opponents Montana, Boise State, Idaho State and Gonzaga. Wyoming kicks off the season with an exhibition against UC-Colorado Springs on Nov. 4, in Laramie, and opens the regular season on Nov. 14 at Denver. The first regular season home game for the Cowgirls is against North Dakota on Nov. 20. Wyoming hosts Utah on Jan. 7 to start conference play.
Another highlight on the schedules is the Wyoming Shootout on Dec. 13 in Casper. The Cowgirls play North Dakota State and the Cowboys play Northern Iowa.
The Mountain West Conference Tournament is March 10-14 for women and March 11-14 for men in Las Vegas.
