OGDEN, Utah - Ogden scored all of its runs in the opening inning, including three on a home run by Brian Cavazos-Galvez, to defeat the Casper Ghosts 6-4 on Monday night.
Gorman Erickson added a two-run homer before Kyle Hancock finally ended the inning with a strikeout.
Hancock threw six innings and struck out three. Five of the six hits he allowed were in the first inning.
The Ghosts scored two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh and ninth innings.
Chandler Laurent and Dustin Garneau had RBI singles in the fourth. David Kandilas scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeffrey Squier in the seventh, and Laurent, who was 3-for-4 at the plate, followed his ninth-inning triple by scoring on a fielder's choice.
Elisaul Pimentel threw six innings for the win, while Joseph Paxon worked the final three frames for his second save.
Casper hosts Idaho Falls in its home opener tonight at 7:05. The teams play a doubleheader on Wednesday with the first pitch at 6:05 p.m.
