* The Casper American Legion will hold its third annual baseball camp at Crossroads Field No. 4 today beginning at 10 a.m. The camp is open to kids ages 7-15 and will have two sessions: the first focuses on defense and pitching while the second deals with hitting and base running. Cost is $35 per camper or $50 for two; each additional camper is $15. All campers will be invited to attend the July 7 doubleheader between the Casper Oilers and the Sheridan Troopers. * The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have a Youth Soccer Power Camp on July 7-9 at the North Casper Soccer Complex. Camps will run from 8:30 a.m.-noon and will be led by Casper's two high school coaches, Dan Wright from Natrona County and Bryan Chadderdon from Kelly Walsh. * The Casper Ghosts Baseball Club is seeking host families for the upcoming season. The players are between the ages of 18 and 23 and must adhere to the rules put in place by the home owners and the Colorado Rockies. Host families provide a room and meals for players during the season and receive game tickets and the chance to attend private team functions in exchange. * The Casper Community Tennis Association is hosting the Wyoming Open Tennis Championship Tennis Tournament on July 9-12. The junior tournament will include boys and girls singles and doubles, while the adult tournament will include men's and women's singles, as well as mixed doubles. * The 2009 Wyoming Cavalry Pepsi/Budweiser Golf Tournament is scheduled for July 17 at 1 p.m. at Three Crowns Golf Club. All monies raised at the tournament will help support the "Reading for Success" program at local elementary and junior high schools as well as "Food & Fuel," which helps support the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps. * The Poppinga Football Experience Skills Camp, featuring former Evanston standouts Brady and Casey Poppinga, will be held July 10 at the Evanston High School football field. Camp I, which is open to kids in 2nd-6th grades, runs from 9:30 a.m.-noon and costs $40. Camp II costs $50 and is open to kids in 7th-12th grades. Both camps are non-contact, with all proceeds going to the "Poppinga Play It Forward Fund," which supports children's charitable causes. * The 36th annual men's and women's "Best in the West" softball tournament is scheduled for July 10-12 in Anaconda, Mont. Divisions will include men's B, C, D and E and women's C and D. The tournament is limited to 150 teams and teams must be registered by June 30. * The 30th Annual Chadron (Neb.) Rotary Colter Run will be held July 11 beginning at 8 a.m. There will be both 5K and 10K runs as well as a two-mile fun-run event, with medals awarded to the first three places in all divisions of the 5K and 10K runs. Entry fee is $12 or $15 on race day. Pre-registration entry forms can be obtained by contacting the Chadron Chamber of Commerce at P.O.
