This weekend's 59th annual Laramie River Rendezvous serves as the regular-season finale for Central Rocky Mountain Region contestants, and berths in next month's College National Finals Rodeo will be on the line.

The top two teams and individuals in each event, based on season standings, qualify for the CNFR, which will be held in the Casper Events Center on June 15-21.

The Laramie River Rendezvous kicks off today and runs through Sunday at the Cliff and Martha Hansen Livestock Teaching Arena. The event is two miles west of Laramie on Highway 230. Performances are 7 tonight and 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Sunday's short go-round starts at 1 p.m.

The University of Wyoming has clinched the regional women's team title with 4,970 points entering the weekend. Central Wyoming College is second with 2,148.33.

The Cowgirls' Nikki Steffes leads the women's all-around.

Central Wyoming paces the men's team chase with 5,773.33 points. The race for second is close. UW has 3,130. Eastern Wyoming College 2,980, Lamar (Colo.) Community College 2,945 and Northeastern Junior College (Sterling, Colo.) 2,925.

"The men are hungry," UW coach George Howard said. "I think they're going to come through again this weekend."

EWC's Ty Kenner fronts the men's all-around.

Admission is $5, with children under 12 and UW students with IDs admitted free.
