OGDEN, Utah - A few wild throws were enough for the Casper Ghosts to win on Thursday.
Casper took advantage of fielding errors and wild pitches to beat Ogden 5-2. The victory moved Casper (11-6) within one game of the South Division lead. Division leader Orem lost to Idaho Falls on Thursday.
Casper scored three of its runs in the top of the fifth inning, including a two-RBI double by Wilin Rosario. James Sims added the other run in the inning, scoring from third on a fielding error by Ogden shortstop Devaris Gordon.
The Ghosts added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth on back-to-back wild pitches by Ogden's Javier Solano.
Dan Houston picked up the win for Casper, striking out eight while giving up only three hits in six innings. Kurt Yacko had to work his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth but struck out Ogden's Lyndon Poole to end the threat and the game.
Casper opens a three-game homestand against Ogden (5-12) today.
