"We are all born with the innate desire to express ourselves visually, rhythmically and verbally.

Children, beginning with the scribble stage, can be encouraged to express themselves through positive verbal exchange. Simple stuff: feathers, fabric, large paper, (I have used, for years, end rolls of newsprint from the CST) sticks, stones, modeling materials, blunt scissors, paste, paints, big crayons, chalk and brushes can develop dexterity, perception and appreciation of self, others and the natural world.

Store in a convenient drawer in the kitchen, office, playroom for easy access.

All children progress through the same developmental stages of visual artistic expression. Truly positive creative experiences are vital for early learning, development and living. Creative problem solving and imagination are constantly at work.

Avoid coloring books! Don't ask of a creation, 'What is it?' Instead, say, 'Tell me about your drawing!'

Above all, have fun!"
