Priscilla Dowse was raised on a bicentennial farm in Massachusetts and came to Wyoming to teach special education in Green River in 1976. She taught for six years before moving to Casper to work full-time for Special Olympics Wyoming, then spent 11 years in New England working for two Special Olympics programs before returning in 2003 to be CEO of Special Olympics Wyoming.
"Wyoming has some of the greatest natural beauty in the country and we have a great sense of community. It has been a gift and an ongoing education to have a life working with, and for, people with disabilities. This gift includes finding neighbors and friends that are candid, sincere and generous. The ongoing education is a daily reminder to never underestimate one's passion, drive and ability. We live in the greatest community - volunteerism is strong and vibrant, individuals, organizations and businesses give generously.
Diversity is the fabric of our humanity; this tapestry contributes to a prosperous society. Each individual brings something unique; a perspective, a passion, an appreciation. In turn I believe that we should value and respect each individual's uniqueness and abilities."
