"They tell me that I have been influenced by the skepticism of Henry Louis Mencken, the renowned columnist, satirist and critic for the Baltimore Sun
of the first half of the 20th century. Although my memory may be faulty, I believe it was Mencken who advised:
Never eat at a place called 'Mom's,'
Or play poker with a guy named 'Doc,'
To which I add -
Or buy a used TV set from a person on the street who is out of breath.
The philosophical message may be presented in a rather unconventional form, but it is there nevertheless."
