buy this photo As deputy director of the Wyoming Health Department, Rodger McDaniel frequently gives advice on how to talk to a student about the dangers of underage drinking.

"I think the best way is to have an honest conversation about the impact of excessive use of alcohol on your health, on your future in terms of becoming alcohol dependent and what that means, as well as the statistics on academic failure. I think you move away from a lot of the judgment stuff we've used in the past. Instead of saying, 'You're a bad person because you drink too much,' studies say that when you focus on what it does to your health and what it can do to your success getting a college education, young people are more willing to respond."
